Dear Friends of Moveable Feast,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Moveable Feast, it is my great pleasure to introduce our new Executive Director, Susan Elias. Sue joins us with over 20 years of experience in human services, community organizing, and community development. Most recently, she served in the role of Executive Vice President at Parks & People Foundation. We are confident that Sue will build on Moveable Feast’s strong foundation while implementing innovative strategies to ensure our long-term stability.
In a prior role as the Director of Volunteer Resources at St. Vincent de Paul, Sue witnessed how a community can mobilize to provide essential resources for those experiencing homelessness, medical fragility, and economic instability. In both Pittsburgh and Baltimore, she started an Empty Bowls anti-hunger awareness event that raised approximately $1 million in each city over two decades and helped communities better understand the need for life-saving food.
A word from Sue: “I am honored to have been selected by Moveable Feast’s Board to serve as Executive Director and further the organization’s mission to provide medically tailored meals to Maryland’s most vulnerable citizens. I am looking forward to joining the team at this critical time when more than ever food equals health and hope for the people we serve.
We are excited for Sue to begin her tenure with Moveable Feast on June 15. Many of you know Jessica Kohnen, who has been a supporter of Moveable Feast for many years and has been serving as our Interim Executive Director since January. The Board is extremely grateful to Jessica for leading Moveable Feast over the last few months while we conducted a successful search for the next leader of Moveable Feast. Jessica will support Sue’s transition through the end of June. Please join me in thanking Jessica for her service and welcoming Sue to Moveable Feast!
Tom Burns
