Medical Nutrition Therapy

Medical Nutrition Therapy

For our clients food is as important as medicine. It helps them strengthen their body and helps them to better fight disease. Our dietitians and chefs create menus that are medically appropriate, nutritious and tasty to meet the health and nutrition needs of our clients. Meals are made in our state of the art kitchen using the freshest foods available.

We use proven nutrition strategies to help our clients fight their diseases.

Through home visits and phone counseling, our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN’s) work with clients to create individualized nutrition plans. They set realistic goals and discuss lifestyle changes that will improve clients’ eating habits and long-term health. Please note that home visits and in-person nutrition sessions are currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Nutrition Department has access to a secure telehealth platform for client care.

Home visits

When a client starts service with Moveable Feast, staff reach out to conduct a nutrition screening and assess risk level. Clients who screen at high nutritional risk and/or express interest in meeting with a dietitian are scheduled to meet with one of our staff of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs).

A typical appointment lasts about 45 minutes and includes:

  • A review of the client’s health background and education on specific nutrition topics relevant to that client’s history
  • A physical assessment measuring the client’s weight, waist circumference, and body composition/fat stores (when in-person)
  • Personal goal-setting based on the client’s own health priorities

Medical Nutrition Therapy helps clients manage their illnesses, their medications, and their medical treatments.

Through home visits, we can observe our clients’ living conditions, take note of their support systems, examine food availability, and in general gain a better understanding of how they live and how we can help.

Our dietitians advise clients on how, when, and what to eat and drink ensuring that clients’ medications can do their job and improve day-to-day life.

Over 80% of clients surveyed agree that their dietitian made it easy for them to learn about how food affects their health.
