Thank
you for Dining Out for Life!
Thank you to everyone who
dined at a participating restaurant on September 17th!
Despite a challenging economy, 52 restaurants participated
and donated at least 20% of their proceeds to Moveable
Feast. So far we have raised over $24,000 in individual
donations!
We would also like to extend
special thanks to our Honorary Chair, Spike Gjerde of
Woodberry Kitchen; each of our wonderful volunteer
Restaurant Ambassadors; and all of our
sponsors and promotional partners. Whenever you can, we
encourage you to patronize our Dining Out for Life
partners. For a complete list of our 2009 restaurants,
please click
here. When dining at one of these restaurants, be sure
to thank them for supporting Moveable Feast!
If you still have an
envelope, don't forget to send it in to Moveable Feast by
October 23rd to be entered into the drawing for two
roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines.

Urge
Congress to Extend the Ryan White Program
The
Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act expires
on September 30, 2009. Congress has just 12 weeks to secure
the program’s extension and ensure that services are not
interrupted later this year. Moveable Feast is a recipient
of Ryan White funds, and an disruption in services would be
detrimental to the lives of our clients.
We urge you to
contact your members of Congress this week and encourage the
passage of a three-year extension of the bill that reflects
recommendations endorsed by over 240 HIV/AIDS organizations
in 45 states, DC and Puerto Rico. Remind your elected
leaders how important Ryan White services are to the
communities they represent in Washington.
Please contact
your House member and both Senators and tell them that the
Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act must be
extended before September 30 with changes recommended by
CAEAR Coalition and over 240 of its national and local
partners. Urge them to reach out to the leadership of the
House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate HELP
Committee and express their support for swift action on the
extension.
To reach your members of Congress, call the Capitol
Switchboard at 1-800-828-0498. If you are unsure who your
member of Congress is,
click here and enter your zip code in the tool on the
left hand side of the web page. Thank you for your support! |

Introducing Our New Diet: Buena Comida
In August Moveable Feast started
offering a new diet to our clients: "Buena Comida", which means
good/nutritious food. This diet, a part of our outreach into the
Latino community, will be offered to any client who does not have
dietary restrictions. The Buena Comida grocery bag will offer more
culturally appropriate products like tortillas, beans, tomatoes,
chilis, and corn meal. Currently we offer eight other special diets
to our clients: regular, diabetic, renal, no seafood, no dairy,
soft, vegetarian, and high protein/calorie.
