Position Announcement:

Executive Director, Moveable Feast

Baltimore, Maryland

Moveable Feast is seeking a seasoned executive director to assume the leadership of this highly respected, 18-year-old Baltimore-based nonprofit that is best known for providing meals to low-income people with debilitating illnesses, such as HIV/AIDS and breast cancer.  Moveable Feast serves the greater Baltimore metropolitan area and along Maryland’s Eastern Shore and its program areas include:

  • Preparing and delivering nutritiously tailored meals to individuals who are homebound and living with HIV/AIDS or breast cancer, as well as their dependent children.

  • Training individuals with limited employment experience, including individuals living with HIV/AIDS, for opportunities in the food service industry.

  • Providing door-to-door transportation service for Ryan White clients to keep scheduled medical and psychosocial appointments and shuttle transportation that helps Baltimore’s homeless access social services.

Governed by a 17-member board of directors made up of experienced community leaders and nonprofit executives, the organization has 30 fulltime staff, over 4,000 volunteers and an annual operating budget of $2.1 million. Primary funding of the organization is from government grants, foundations, corporations and contributions from major donors.  For a complete description of Moveable Feast’s programs and services, visit www.mfeast.org.

In January 2008, Moveable Feast will move into a new facility in East Baltimore with a new kitchen, offices/staff space, meeting rooms, culinary training rooms, and delivery docks. The new facility will expand Moveable Feast’s kitchen capacity and allow the organization to consider expanding its programs – to reach more HIV/AIDS clients and add services for other people in need.

Ideal candidates for this position will share our commitment to the mission, vision and services of Moveable Feast and will bring a variety of experiences and attributes to Moveable Feast, including:

  • At least five years senior organizational leadership experience, including management of a comparably-sized staff
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in the development of community-based organizations
  • Demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising
  • Nonprofit board development experience
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and budgeting
  • Strong understanding of the issues surrounding HIV disease
  • Good political instincts and ability to successfully relate to a wide range of constituents
  • Bachelor’s degree in compatible field, Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent communication skills

To apply send an email with a cover letter detailing your qualifications, a resume and salary requirements to:  mf@transitionguides.com.  Moveable Feast offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a benefits package. Resumes will be considered until the position is filled. Moveable Feast is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The incoming executive director will succeed Vic Basile, who will be retiring from the organization at the end of December 2007. Please see the complete job profile at www.transitionguides.com/mf.htm.
